DATA SECURITY

This might be the most important training we have every provided!!

At the December 2017 FSA Conference Ms. Tiina (with two eyes) Rodrigue ran 3 scheduled closed out sessions on DATA SECURITY. Due to demand they opened a 4th session in the largest room they had.

Ms. Rodrigue is our trainer!!

Did you know that DATA SECURITY is going to be on your AUDIT NEXT YEAR?

Did you know that the Department just launched an information page on cybersecurity compliance?  https://ifap.ed.gov/eannouncements/Cyber.html

This is serious information for the Financial Aid Office your IT/IS folks and your entire school. We would love to invite everyone but space would be an issue. NYSFAAA members only and you will have to bring the info home with you.  We suggest you register ASAP because YOU MAY BE LOCKED OUT. We served the largest rooms we could.

TRAINING DECRIPTION

As institutions move from the Information Age to the Virtual Age, cyberthreats are a certainty. It isn’t a question of “if,” but “when” and “how often.” This presentation defines data security, compliance requirements, and available tools. Learn how your institution can avoid risks to its federal student aid access.

Objectives:

  1. Increase audience comprehension of the current state of data security in the educational sector and the requirements of all Title IV schools as financial institutions
  2. Clarify the definition of a breach, the protocol to follow when a breach is detected, and the right data to include in notifying Federal Student Aid of a breach as required
  3. Share the existing free tools and services that are available for institutions today to develop a risk profile, determine their cybersecurity maturity, and implement legally required controls

Like all these events you must register to attend.
