When Disaster Hits at the Worst Possible Time

This session will discuss the impact a disaster like Hurricane Harvey can have on a financial aid operation and how a very large school with multiple campuses can prepare staff and students for the aftermath of the storm.

We will outline the steps that have to be taken to notify appropriate agencies, provide assistance and communications to students, and prepare staff to assist in meeting ng the needs of hundreds of students affected by the storm. Information regarding coordinating community resources and lessons learned.

Our presenter is JoEllen Sourcier the Executive Director of Financial Aid at Houston Community College.

JoEllen just survived Hurricane Harvey having to pick up the pieces an get her 7 campuses up and running again. All this while most of us were watching this on television.

Disasters can occur any place at any time. JoEllen has gracefully agreed to share with us all that she has learned from her experience.
