NYSFAAA George Chin Memorial Scholarship

For more than 25 years, NYSFAAA has awarded scholarships to students from member institutions.  During that time, more than 100 students have benefited from these funds.   

The scholarship committee is now accepting applications for the NYSFAAA George Chin Memorial Scholarship.  Five (5) scholarships totaling $7,500.00 ($1,500.00 each) are awarded each year to students in each of the five categories of institutions (i.e., public 2-year, private 2-year, public 4-year, private 4-year, graduate). The scholarship deadline is October 11th, 2024. 

The Scholarship Process:

1. Identify a deserving student (or one at each degree level in your school) who meets the criteria.
2. Print or download the Student Scholarship Application from the NYSFAAA website (see below).
3. Have the student complete their portion of the application.
4. A financial aid administrator completes the school section of the application. The FAO must be a NYSFAAA member. 
5. The application must be submitted via email to the Committee Co-Chairs no later than October 11, 2024.  You determine the date the applications are due in your office.  That date should be early enough to give you time to review the applications and complete the FAO section.

When students sign the application, they are giving their Financial Aid Office permission to release their academic and financial aid information to the Scholarship Committee.  The student certification will allow the publication of the names of the students who are selected for this award.
